Let’s be open, we all love Dolly.  We love her for her southern charm, her fantastic hair and makeup, her music, we fell in love with her in countless movies, and most importantly for her big heart.  In 1996 the Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library was established.  Dolly has used this program to give back to her roots in the Sevierville community to allow children in all economic backgrounds the ability to learn to read.  Every child in the Sevier County area is eligible to receive a free, age appropriate, book each month in the mail until the age of five. Since it’s small beginnings, the program has since expanded to over 1600 local communities in the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The program can be implemented in other communities by private organizations, and the Foundation is responsible for the distribution of books in those participating communities.  Hopefully this heartwarming act of kindness straight from the Smoky Mountains is just one more reason to visit us here in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, or Gatlinburg.  Be sure to take the family for a day of fun at Dollywood and while you’re here find a southern home to stay in that’s right for you and your family at Bear Camp Cabins.
